What is an Application?

Applications is a new way to create automations on top of the Paxful ecosystem. Applications allow you to logically structure your projects and keep everything in one place.

Two primary use cases for applications are:
  1. Automating operations on your own account
  2. Automating operations on behalf of other users

Applications allow you to automate what you’re doing with your own account, but you can now offer automation services to other Paxful user accounts. For example, you can create an application that would automate or semi-automate trading with certain payment methods on behalf of another user’s account. The possibilities are endless with our API.

To access another Paxful user’s account, you’ll need to add the ’Sign in with Paxful’ product to your application. If you’re going to automate trading on your own Paxful account only, you can skip the integration of ‘Sign in with Paxful’.

If you want to distribute your automation software and allow other users to access it later on, you’ll only need to change a few things in your application layer as our SDKs cover the integration aspect.
For a more in-depth technical explanation for supported authentication methods, check out the Authentication section. Since we provide SDKs that take care of the authentication, you may not need to learn anything about OAuth 2.0 and just use SDKs that we provide that will take care of authentication details for you.

In the next section we will show you how you can create your application and add API products to it.
